Welcome back to Mobile Generated News®
Mobile Marketing is defined as marketing on or with a mobile
device, a way to reach people anywhere, at any hour, and for anything. We are
now able to use interactive wireless media to provide consumers with material
that is time and location sensitive. This type of marketing engine can be used
to promote goods, services, and ideas. A win, win for everyone…or
is it?
People these days have become so cautious of what information they supply, as they should be. Your mobile device already has all of your information stored and companies are using that information to create promotions and advertisements specific to your wants and needs, whether you like it or not. Mobile revenue more than doubled from $1.2 billion in the first six months of 2012 to $3 billion this year, an increase of 145%. With numbers like these, the creeping reality of more ads on your mobile device won’t go away anytime soon.
What do you think, an annoying ploy to sell you something OR endorsements tailored specifically for you and your needs?
If you've upgraded to iOS7, you’ll notice the Advertising tab in your Privacy settings, which states:
iOS 7 enables the use of the Advertising Identifier, a non-permanent device identifier, for apps to give you more control over advertisers’ ability to serve you targeted ads. If you choose to limit ad tracking, apps are not permitted to use the Advertising Identifier to serve you targeted ads. You can reset a device’s Advertising Identifier at any time. Additionally, iAd will opt your Apple ID out of receiving ads targeted to your interests regardless of what device you are using.
Please note: by turning Limit Ad Tracking “on” you may still see the same number of ads as before, but they may be less relevant because they will not be based on your interests.
