Do you know what today is?

Greetings from Mobile Generated News®  MoGN!

Giving Tuesday ― unlike the days just passed ― was not created by marketers to get you to spend money at commercial establishments.  Giving Tuesday is about giving to others, by giving to charities.

What a better way to celebrate the Holiday Season by starting today, thinking about those less fortunate.   Giving Tuesday is a daylong national effort to help charities raise money online during the holiday shopping season.  This idea began last year when about 2,600 non-profit organizations benefited.   Last year’s Giving Tuesday was a first-time event with little time to plan.   Many groups didn’t have an opportunity to get the word out in advance.  This year, there is a new Website with the goal of doubling the number of charities that participate in the effort.
The idea came to life at the 92nd Street Y ― a nonprofit cultural and community Center located in New York City.  They started with a partnership with the United Nations Foundation, and then word spread quickly across real and virtual social networks, attracting more organizations and people along the way.

The possibilities are endless when the technology of social networking and existing organizations can work together to help others.  You can start by giving to your own favorite charity today or join the movement by clicking here:  Giving Tuesday

Another way to connect you through technology is to download the Mobile Generated News® Apps and upload your story about your charity and giving or any other newsworthy subject.
