Amazon Sued over App Charges

Greetings from Mobile Generated News® MoGN!

Millions of dollars were apparently billed by children’s accidental in-App purchases according to a complaint by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. This is not good timing for Amazon with their brand new “purchase oriented” Smartphone hitting the market in a little over 10-days.

The complaint alleges that “random charges” are appearing on credit card bills of parents that claim their children have been tricked to pay for virtual in-game items without their parent’s knowledge or approval. For example a game called “Tap Zoo” requires children to pay for animals and other game pieces in “stars” or “coins” some of which are paid for by in-game currency and some by real credit cards. The complaint goes on to say that Amazon did not have proper notifications in place to authorize these charges. The FTC reached a deal with Apple this past January to settle similar complaints.

With the Mobile Generated News® App there never any hidden charges. The App is free in the Apple App Store. At Mobile Generated News®, we want news consumers to be able to interact with local media for free.

We believe that contributing to the news cycle is essential to our democracy. Most often, viewers do not get to control what they see on the news. Now, the MoGN App enables news enthusiasts and the general public to have a say in the content they see on their televisions, web sites and newspapers. We are trying to enhance the human experience when it comes to news. Download the Mobile Generated News App and become a Citizen Journalist! If you are out and about and see news, weather or sports happening, send in your Breaking News. If you have a “happy news” story or opinion that’s worth sharing, record it and send it in as well!
