Early Morning Wake-up Call

Greetings from Mobile Generated News® MoGN!

For those of you that are reading this in California or other earthquake prone parts of the world, it’s time for a reminder.

As you must know by now, a 6.0 earthquake struck the Napa wine country of California at 3:20:44am, yesterday. This should be a wakeup call!

Although it has been 25 years that a significant earthquake struck the northern California area, there are several small earthquakes almost daily in California. Obviously, if the Napa Quake struck just a few hours later, the streets would have been filled with people leading to dangerous consequences. It’s amazing, given the gas fueled fires and the structural damage that there were no serious injuries. The people of Napa and the region were very lucky they didn’t suffer any more than minor injuries. As of this writing, some areas are still without power, streets are blocked and many people and pets are still shaking physically (with aftershocks) and mentally in a daze.

The time to think about earthquake preparedness is all of the time.

According to the USGS (U.S. Geological Survey) here are the 7 Steps to Earthquake Safety:

1. Identify potential hazards in your home and begin to fix them.

2. Create a disaster-preparedness plan.

3. Create disaster kits.

4. Identify your building’s potential weaknesses and begin to fix them.

5. Protect yourself during earthquake shaking.

6. After the quake, check for injuries and damage.

7. When safe, continue to follow your disaster-preparedness plan.

You can find out more specifics about what you can do to protect yourself and family at: earthquake.usgs.gov

Don’t procrastinate, make sure your have a plan and the supplies to survive the next one and there will be at next one.

Do you have a disaster plan? Have you talked to your family about it?
