Google Glass Backlash

Greetings from Mobile Generated News® MoGN!

I read a story at Wired.com (which, by the way, costs $5 for 6 monthly issues and you get a cool free cap) about the experience of testing Google Glass for a year. Mat Hogan of Wired reports that the experience wasn’t all that great.

Google Glass, which we’ve talked about in this blog before, is a pair of eyeglasses complete with a voice-activated wireless camera and micro-computer projected in one lens. Some people think they look cool but Hogan reports that the glasses are so noticeable that people threatened him everywhere he went.

The problem is the device is so recognizable that they knew he had the ability to record video or still pictures just by looking at them which made anyone looking back at him really uneasy.

If you think about it, perhaps some of this wearable technology may be too high tech — even for gadget geeks like me.

Is this just another way to invade your fellow human’s privacy?

I’m sure that many people will find convenient and worthy uses for Google Glass but is it worth alienating friends and strangers in the process?

The “cool factor” may wear off quickly just like some of the other wearable technology we have blogged about in this space.

At Mobile Generated News®, we want news consumers to contribute their opinions or news stories and be able to interact with local media for free. We believe that contributing to the news cycle is essential to our democracy.

Most often, viewers do not get to control what they see on the news. Now, the MoGN App enables news enthusiasts to have a say in the content they see on their televisions, web sites and newspapers.

We are trying to enhance the human experience when it comes to news.
