More Cars in the Carpool Lanes

Greetings from Mobile Generated News® MoGN!

You’ll be seeing more green stickers on electric vehicles in carpool lanes now that Governor Jerry Brown signed legislation over the weekend.

Currently, there is a cap of 55,000 vehicles allowed to take advantage of the car pool lanes with one driver and no passengers. Now the cap on the Green Sticker program will be raised to allow 70,000 vehicles.

There are new financial incentives encourage more people to buy the cars that are environmentally friendly.

The Governor by signing this legislation set a goal of having at least 1 million zero-emission vehicles and near-zero-emission vehicles on California freeways by January 1, 2023.

The State Air Resources Board is tasked with making sure that disadvantaged communities can take part. There will be extra credit for low-income drivers who wish to buy or lease an electric car along with other incentives. Sen. Kevin de León and Assemblyman Al Muratsuchi authored the legislation.

One of the main objections to electric vehicles has been the cost. This legislation should make electric cars more affordable.

In the interest of full disclosure, I have been driving a Volt (complete with the green decals) for over 2-years now and using the car pool lane has made it possible for me to enjoy driving in Los Angeles again!

Is there an electric vehicle in your future?
