 92% of college students prefer print books to e-books, study finds

If you imagine millennials are just young people entranced by their cellphones or tablet computers, you might want to think again. According to a new study, 92% of college students would rather do their reading the old-fashioned way, with pages and not pixels.

The sky is falling on print newspapers faster than you think

 Last October, a McKinsey report declared, “We believe that many of the people likely to abandon print newspapers and print consumer magazines have already done so…. We believe most of this core audience — households that have retained their print subscriptions despite having access to broadband — will continue to do so for now, effectively putting a floor on the print markets.”



Washington Post eyes 'bittersweet' newsroom move

The Post officially leaves its headquarters building in downtown Washington on December 14 as it migrates its 700-person newsroom staff three blocks away to offices designed as the newsroom of the future.
It will mark a fresh beginning for a newspaper with a grand tradition but which is undergoing major changes under Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder who bought the daily in 2013.

“We’re doing it now with more resources and we have a lot of patience for that job.”




Al Jazeera America to shutter digital operations by the end of the month

The closure of Al Jazeera America is coming sooner than expected.
Al Jazeera America staffers were told during a staff meeting at 2 p.m. today that they are to stop updating the company's website on Feb. 26, POLITICO has learned.
Digital staffers were told to stop reporting work after Feb. 26, although they will be paid through April. TV operations will continue until April 12.
