Obama sits down with Evan Smith, CEO / Editor in Chief of The Texas
Tribune, for a conversation about civic engagement in the 21st Century
before an audience of creators, early adopters and entrepreneurs who are
defining the future of our connected lives. The President will call on
the audience to apply their ideas and talents to make technology work
for us – especially when it comes to tackling big challenges like
increasing participation in the political process and fighting climate

Started in 1987, South by Southwest (SXSW) is a set of film, interactive, and music festivals and conferences that take place early each year in mid-March in Austin, Texas. SXSW’s original goal was to create an event that would act as a tool for creative people and the companies they work with to develop their careers, to bring together people from a wide area to meet and share ideas.
