J.J. Abrams talks Rey’s parents and why Mark Hamill was ‘hesitant’ about ‘Force Awakens’

If you want J.J. Abrams to open up, just sit him down with Chris Rock.
At the Tribeca Film Festival on Friday, the duo had a career-spanning
conversation to the delight of a packed audience for more than an hour,
discussing everything from their early days in the industry to current
projects. And yes, there was a lot of Star Wars talk. And double yes, an audience member asked the question on everyone’s minds – who are Rey’s parents?
“Get out!” Abrams joked, before delving deeper into the answer. “Rey’s parents are not in Episode VII, so I couldn’t possibly tell you in this moment who they are.”
