FBI Director appears before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Summoned before Congress, FBI Director James Comey on Thursday strongly defended the decision to not prosecute Hillary Clinton over her private email setup. He said there was no evidence that she or any of her aides knew that anything they were doing was against the law or had lied to federal investigators

[Update, 11:30 AM ] In his testimony, in response to questions about whether Clinton should have been aware that she was sending highly classified data in unclassified e-mails, Comey said, "I don’t think our investigation established she was that sophisticated about classification."
Congressman Mick Mulvaney (R-South Carolina) responded, "Isn't she an original classification source?", meaning that Clinton was responsible for assigning a level of classification to information as Secretary of Stat.
"Yes, she was," Comey replied.

"Good grief," exclaimed Mulvaney.

Chaffetz to FBI's Comey: Expect a request to probe if Clinton lied under oath

House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Jason Chaffetz told FBI Director James Comey that he would request the agency investigate whether Hillary Clinton lied under oath to Congress.
"You'll have one in the next few hours," Chaffetz said, after Comey told the chairman that a referral from Congress was needed to investigate Clinton's potential lying under oath.
Clinton's comment in question was one she made in testimony to Rep. Jim Jordan, in which she said "there was nothing marked classified on my emails." Comey told the committee that there was indeed classified information that had passed through Clinton's unauthorized email server that she used while as secretary of state.

The FBI had only investigated specific claims Clinton made to the bureau, Comey said.
