2015 Corvette Will Have Dash Cam and Data Recorder

Greetings from Mobile Generated News® MoGN!

Attention Valet Parking Attendants:  Behave when you park a car that is equipped with a Dash Camera!

A Data Recorder complete with a Dash Cam is now Exclusive, optional, factory installed equipment on the 2015 Corvette. The data recorder captures video, audio and driving data from the vehicle when switched into a special “Valet Mode.”

Let me tell you why this story is intriguing to me. Just last night, my daughter came running into the house angry and shaken up because she just avoided a collision with another car that ran a stop sign. The traffic in Los Angeles has become so bad and drivers are so distracted that I decided to purchase and install a Dash Cam in my car just about two months ago.

Valet Mode is displayed on the touchscreen panel of the 2015 Corvette with data and video. The information can be viewed instantly by the owner on the screen when the car is parked, or it can be downloaded to a computer. The car will record data such as speed, engine RPM, the gears used and the highest level of g-force incurred. There is also an HD camera showing the driver’s point of view and recorded interior audio.

“This type of monitoring technology is still a novelty but will soon become commonplace,” said Karl Brauer, an analyst for car pricing company Kelley Blue Book.

Although not as sophisticated as the Corvette’s version, having my Dash Cam has already paid off. I captured the video below on my routine drive to the office:

I would not be surprised if “Valet Mode” becomes standard equipment on all vehicles in the not so distant future.

What do you think? Do you want a Dash Cam for your car?
