A new robot bellop is now appearing at the Aloft hotel in Cupertino, California. This is according to a recent New York Times article.
This is all happening right across the street from Apple’s World Headquarters. The name of the robot is “Botlr” and he can deliver sundries to the guests in the hotel’s 150 rooms. It uses built in video cameras, sensors and a computer system to find its way around the property. It has a top speed of 4 miles per hour which means it can make it to any of the rooms in less than3-minutes.
Botlr will not accept tips, however, it does have a touch screen display for guests to comment on its performance. If you give Botlr a good review the robot will dance before it leaves.
I couldn’t make this up!
As I mentioned in a prior blog, about a pet robot for the elderly, I prefer people over robots any day.
But this sure sounds cool.
