GOP candidate makes no public appearance, comment on way into event
Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump attended a private fundraiser Wednesday evening at the Del Mar Country Club in Rancho Santa Fe.
About 50 people were expected to attend fundraiser that was projected to raise about $4 million, according to developer Doug Manchester, a lead organizer of the event and a Trump delegate at next week’s GOP convention in Cleveland.
Tickets for the fundraiser started at $25,000 and reached as high as $449,000.
Trump arrived by vehicle at about 6 p.m. and drove past the gathered media, which was kept at a distance from the country club. A few supporters showed up outside and there were no protesters. Trump left shortly after 8 p.m.
Other hosts of the fundraiser included Jenny Craig of diet industry fame and Madeline Pickens, the ex-wife of Texas billionaire T. Boone Pickens.
