We lost an American icon with an abundance of lightning fast talent and charm, yesterday.
Robin Williams leaves a lasting impression on me and my entertainment reporters and producers over the years. He was always willing and kind to grant the TV interviews even if he was scheduled to do several of them back to back at one of those movie junkets. You knew you would always have a unique and special conversation with him. Every interview was different and he loved to make us laugh with his brilliant quit wit and clever banter. We would watch the raw footage over and over and laugh like were seeing it for the first time.
You will read, see and listen to excerpts of glimpses of Robin Williams’s public life in the days to come. What we suspected under his larger than life persona was hidden ̶ we learned about it by his own admission of battles with alcohol and cocaine.
Somehow, we all hoped he would survive. It was not to be.
All we can do is pay our respects to his family in their grief and thank him for his great body of work ranging from comedy to tragedy ̶ very much like the way he lived his life.
