The funeral of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia is being held at the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, the largest Roman Catholic church in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Latest on the funeral Mass for the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia (all times local):


1:55 p.m.
Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia's family is leaving the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception to head to a private burial for the late jurist.
The burial site remains undisclosed. A memorial service for Scalia has been set for March 1 at 11 a.m. at the Mayflower hotel in Washington.
Thousands of mourners attended the funeral Mass, which lasted one hour and 45 minutes.


12:00 p.m.
The Rev. Paul Scalia is remembering his father, Antonin Scalia, as a man who loved God, country and family.
Scalia's son has delivered the homily at a funeral mass for the late Supreme Court justice, who died last week. (...)

Washington Archbishop Donald Cardinal Wuerl has drawn chuckles when he told the massive crowd at Justice Antonin Scalia's funeral Mass that he would keep opening remarks brief "in keeping with your desire to have a simple parish family Mass."
Wuerl has expressed to Scalia's family and mourners "our heartfelt sympathy at the loss of your husband, your father, grandfather and friend."  (...)

The Supreme Court says more than 6,000 visitors came to the court on Friday to view Antonin Scalia's casket in the Great Hall.

Among those expected to attend is Vice President Joe Biden.
President Barack Obama paid tribute to Scalia at the Supreme Court on Friday. Scalia's flag-draped casket rested on a funeral bier first used after President Abraham Lincoln's assassination.
One of Scalia's nine children, the Rev. Paul Scalia, is set to lead the Mass.

WASHINGTON — Should an autopsy have been performed on the body of Justice Antonin Scalia?
When a Texas justice of the peace certified that the 79-year-old Supreme Court justice had died from natural causes, questions immediately erupted. No autopsy had been performed, and the certification had been made without even an examination of the body. The unexpected death of a divisive public figure during an acerbic presidential campaign set off conspiracy theories and demands from political commentators that a pathologist perform an autopsy before Justice Scalia’s burial on Saturday to prove no foul play was involved.
