Advertisers do not plan on pulling their campaigns or scrambling to find solutions to the controversies already surrounding the Olympic Games in Sochi. US advertisers do plan on spending roughly $900 million on the event that has a high viewer turnout.
Marketers believe the hullabaloo and hiccups that the World has been focusing on will simply add to the TV ratings.
NBCUniversal spent $775 million just for the right to broadcast the Games and has dished out another $100 million to produce the 17-day event. They have 2,300 staff members on the ground in Russia.
The popularity of social media sites could explain the increase of viewership of live events like sports and award shows as viewers want to have a say in the conversation on social media sites.
We are looking forward to seeing how the story is told at the Olympic Games on the global, national, and local levels. At Mobile Generated News®, we want news viewers to be able to interact with local media for free. We believe that contributing to the news cycle is essential to our democracy. Most often, viewers do not get to control what they see on the news. Now, the MoGN App enables news enthusiasts to have a say in the content they see on their televisions, web sites and newspapers.
