Access to news is a privilege, spreading it should be mandatory

Greetings from Mobile Generated News® MoGN!

We have headlines flashing before our eyes and at our fingertips whenever we want them. People are constantly checking for the latest news and updates on their favorite subjects and stories.

Many people across the world, including the 125 people of the Hilltop Village in Chiang Mai, Thailand are aware of what is happening in their immediate surroundings, but do not have any grasp of what is happening anywhere else around the world. I recently spent the night there (pictured above) and the only news the village members receive is that which the Village Elder recites in the morning over a loud speaker that plays for a few minutes.

It was quite a humbling experience and definitely made me remember just how lucky I am to be able to do my almost hourly routine of scrolling through headlines. On top of that, I have the ability to instantaneously not only spread news, but also create it. I, just like anyone with a passion for journalism, can take a picture or video on my smartphone or tablet, and the world can see it within minutes thanks to the Mobile Generated News App.

Well-taken pictures and videos have the ability to tell a story without any narration. At MoGN, we hope that you take the types of pictures and videos that are so fascinating and moving that they can tell a unique story. If you see news happening around you, take a snapshot or a short clip and upload it to the MoGN App. Be careful, because that news could be behind you.

At Mobile Generated News®, we want news consumers to be able to interact with local media for free. We believe that contributing to the news cycle is essential to our democracy. Most often, viewers do not get to control what they see on the news. Now, the MoGN App enables news enthusiasts to have a say in the content they see on their televisions, web sites and newspapers. We are trying to enhance the human experience when it comes to news. Download the Mobile Generated News App and become a Citizen Journalist! If you are out and about and see news, weather or sports happening, send in your Breaking News. If you have a story or opinion that’s worth sharing, record it and send it in as well!
